What is Spray Foam Insulation and Why Do We Use it?

Spray foam insulation, also known as spray polyurethane foam, is a type of plastic insulation that is applied as needed through a spray device. If you currently own or have ever owned an older property, you may be more familiar with other types of insulation that are purchased and cut by the foot. Our SPF is applied directly as needed to seal every gap in the roofing, attic, and interior wall cavities to maximize your energy efficiency.

In addition to this, spray foam offers a host of benefits that other insulation solutions do not. Because it is sprayed directly into every crack and fold in your home as opposed to being covered by a pre-cut batt, you're guaranteed to get improved performance when it comes to regulating hot and cold.

That same tight sealing will keep your indoors secure from allergens, pests, and mold. It also lasts far longer than other insulation methods. It is our go-to choice for every client, because while it costs more in the initial investment, it is financially sensible for everyone regardless of their situation due to the convenience and amount of money it will save you in the long-term.

Two Types - Open Cell and Closed Cell Spray Foam

When it comes to choosing between the two types, it's a matter of knowing what each is better at - not that one is necessarily overall better than the other.

Closed cell foam is excellent whenever applicable as it can attain up to 2x the R-Value of other insulation methods, meaning your home has incredible durability and protection from water and moisture damage. It's great for standard ceilings and walls where you have a very tight amount of space to fill.

Open cell foam can achieve the same R-Values, but makes up for it in its ability to expand and reach those hard to fill areas in spacious buildings with all sorts of nooks and crannies. It's also much more affordable than closed cell, but won't offer the same level of protection in extreme climates.
